Горный карликовый поссум внесен в список Международной Красной книги со статусом «вид на грани исчезновения» (Critically Endangered). Его современная популяция невелика — всего 2600 взрослых особей.

The mountain dwarf possum is listed in the International Red Book with the status "species on the verge of extinction" (Critically Endangered). Its current population is small — only 2,600 adults.

Мясо каретт употребляется в пищу, яйца биссы — деликатес во многих странах. Также черепахи истребляются и из-за панцирей — они используются для получения «черепаховой кости». Из молодых особей изготавливают сувениры. По этим причинам, несмотря на довольно широкий ареал, вид находится под угрозой.

Но это не главная проблема угрозы жизни черепах (и всех морских жителей). Происходит массовое вымирание из-за пластика в среде их обитания (отравление, запутывание и удушье, заполнение пластиком желудков, а в дальнейшем смерть).

Bissa (Eretmochelys imbricata), tropics and subtropics of the World Ocean. Carette meat is eaten, bissa eggs are a delicacy in many countries. Turtles are also exterminated because of their shells — they are used to obtain "turtle bones". Souvenirs are made from young individuals. For these reasons, despite a fairly wide range, the species is under threat. But this is not the main problem of the threat to the life of turtles (and all marine inhabitants). There is a mass extinction due to plastic in their habitat (poisoning, entanglement and suffocation, filling of stomachs with plastic, and later death).
